Yesterday, Clackamas Fire visited CAIS to present students Elyjah and Blake with Life Saving Awards and challenge coins after the two acted quickly to extinguish a fire in the Welding Shop before Spring Break. Their training kicked in right away — and because of that, a scary moment became a story about two students who knew exactly what to do.
The Fire Inspector was so impressed that he came back just to honor them.
Way to go Elyjah and Blake!

Enjoy the sunshine, spend time with friends and family, and make good choices. Stay safe, take care of yourself and each other, and come back refreshed and ready for a great week ahead!

To be eligible, students must:
Be enrolled in 9-12th grade for the 2026-2027 academic year.
Live in the City of Oregon City or attend a school in the Oregon City School District.
Applications for the upcoming term will open on May 4 and close on June 26 at 5 p.m.

Did you know? Every OCSD student a library that goes wherever they go?
Oregon City School District provides every student free access to Sora, a digital library app designed specifically for K–12 learners. Whether your student is a confident reader, still building their skills, or somewhere in between, Sora has something for them — and the tools to help them grow.
Here's what's waiting for your family
📚 A library built for them: Ebooks, audiobooks, picture books, read-alongs, and graphic novels — all hand-selected and age-appropriate for all our readers.
🏠 Access anywhere, anytime: Sora works on phones, tablets, and computers. Books are available 24/7 — no library hours, no late fees, no lost books.
🌎 Books in their language: The app is available in 13 languages and includes bilingual titles and world language books, so every family can engage with reading in the language that works best for them.
👁️ Built for every kind of reader: Adjustable text size, dyslexic-friendly fonts, high contrast display, and a read-aloud feature that highlights words as they're spoken — Sora meets your student where they are.
🏅 Motivation built in: Daily reading goals, progress tracking, and achievement badges make reading fun and engaging!
🏙️ Two libraries in one: Through our partnership with Oregon City Public Library, your student's student library card also unlocks OCPL's digital collection inside Sora — even more books, same app, no extra steps.
Select the Oregon City School District, log in with your student's Classlink, and start exploring today.
📚 Download Sora for free wherever you get your apps.

Let's talk about what "being here" does for our students. 📈
Students who attend school each day:
Earn higher grades and test scores - these look great on job applications, apprenticeship applications, college applications, etc.
Build stronger friendships and social connections - a strong support system helps students thrive
Feel more confident and engaged in learning - making learning connections stronger
Have better career and college opportunities - see the first three points!
We're here to support students. If you or your student needs support in attendance (or otherwise), OCSD offers counseling services for students, family resource supports, and staff who care. Please reach out to your school for more information on accessing these supports.
Show up. Level up. We're cheering for you every single day.

Our bond-funded projects are moving forward across our district.
⚾️🥎OCHS's softball, and baseball fields are complete and ready for Pioneers to play ball! The multi-use field will soon be wrapping up, look for an invite to our ribbon cutting!
At Holcomb, careful abatement work was completed over spring break—an important step in preparing for construction. Meanwhile, permits are advancing for John McLoughlin, and CTE expansion work at OCHS is moving into early procurement.
Follow our 2025 Bond Facebook page or Instagram account for photos, and videos as work progresses!
