Student of the Month
What is so special about this?

Student of the Month is a special recognition awarded to students who demonstrate outstanding citizenship and academic achievement. This honor is reserved for those who consistently excel in both their behavior and academic studies. To celebrate, all Student of the Month recipients will enjoy a pizza lunch together. During the celebration, the nominating teachers will share a brief statement about each student, highlighting the qualities and accomplishments that earned them this distinction.

Please note: students are eligible to receive this award only once during their time at OCHS.

Last night our Elementary Design Advisory Group met to review the new updated conceptual design plans for our Phase 2 Elementary schools. Our team will be visiting these schools (John McLoughlin, Holcomb, and Candy Lane) on November 24 and 25 during conferences to hear feedback and input on these new conceptual designs from parents and our community. Last week four OCSD students presented to school board leaders and district leaders from across the state during the annual OSBA conference. They shared their perspectives and experiences from serving on the Superintendent Student Advisory Committee.

The Pioneers finished the season with strong individual performances at the State Championship Saturday. Olivia Beaudin earned All-State honors finishing 21st out of the 147 runners, Grace Carrillo finished in 40th place. Hunter McKenzie was the 3rd Three Rivers League runner across the line, placing 46th out of 151 boys who qualified for the XC finale.

Ms. Cole's Honors Environmental Science classes at OCHS had the opportunity to go to the Environmental Learning Center at CCC on 10/14 and 10/30 to learn about Environmental Science professions! We heard from Water Environmental Services employees on how they test our river water for pollutants, manage sewer and stormwater issues, and repair wetland ecosystems to manage water quality and quantity. Students got to test Newell Creek for temperature and pH, create a model wetland, and even drive the sewer robot camera! We had fun and learned a lot!
