This past weekend, on March 7th, 2026, in Corvallis, Oregon, BENJAMIN MURRAY NAGEL, “Benny”, was inducted into the Oregon Animal Hall of Fame by the Oregon Veterinary Medical Association, for his Outstanding Professional Service as an Emotional Support Animal.
My sister-in-law, Dr. Lynn Healy, DVM, presented the award to Benny and talked about how he has supported so many students (and staff), especially after the epidemic, when things were a little tough for everybody.
Benny is a 7 1/2 year old Goldendoodle and has been certified as an Emotional Support Animal since 2020. Benny has gone to work with his owner, Liz Nagel at Gardiner Middle School every day since being certified. You may have also seen him around OCHS on occasion.

Please take a bit of time to watch our informational video and share your thoughts in our survey for the 2026-2027 Budget.

To make sure you aren't an hour late for everything on Monday:
The Rule: "Spring Forward." At 2:00 AM, the time officially jumps to 3:00 AM.
The Tech: Most smartphones, computers, and smartwatches will update themselves automatically.
The Manuals: Don't forget the "analog" holdouts—microwave clocks, oven displays, car dashboards, and that one wall clock you need a stool to reach.
The Safety Check: Fire departments often recommend using this date as a reminder to change the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.

The Oregon City High School Speech and Debate team hosted their annual Diana Vazquez Duque Invitational on March 7th. The tournament is one of the biggest in the Pacific Northwest, with over 500 competitors from 42 different schools across two states who attended this year.
The Diana Vazquez Duque invitational, affectionately nicknamed DVD by competitors, has run continuously for 12 years, starting in 2014, when a tournament that usually would help competitors reach state was canceled. Local teams, desperate for another tournament prior to state qualifying districts, worked together to help put on the 1st tournament at Oregon City High School.
In the following years, DVD has been a major way of fundraising for the OCHS Speech and Debate team. Through the money earned from the tournament, the team is now able to pay tournament admission fees, purchase educational materials, provide lunch, and help students in need overcome financial obstacles that could prevent them from joining the team.

WHEN: Thursday , April 9th, 2026 from 10:30AM - 12:10PM
WHO: You, a person interested in sharing about your occupation with high school students.
WHAT: OCHS Career Spotlight Day
WHERE: 19761 S. Beavercreek Rd., Oregon City, OR 97045
We will be utilizing our school’s FLEX TIME for this event so you will only have time for one (1) presentation of approximately 40 minutes which should leave time for questions and answers at the end.
Students are curious about different careers and what it takes to be successful. Sharing your experiences can help them decide if that career path is right for them.
Thank you for taking the time to consider this request to present to our students! We are grateful for your support and involvement!

Comp Day for Conferences

See all the results at https://www.ochspioneersathletics.org/o/athletics/article/2746018

Conferences present a wonderful opportunity to connect with teachers and discuss your student's academic performance, progress, and any areas that may require additional support.
Our Parent / Teacher Conference format this year is designed to make the most of our time together and better support our students.
Conferences will be held at Oregon City High School on:
Wednesday, March 4th, and Thursday, March 5th, from 4:00 PM to 7:30 PM both evenings.
Here's how the time will be structured:
Family Focused Conferences (4:00 PM – 5:30 PM): This block will be by invitation only. The school will reach out directly to the families of students who may benefit most from a dedicated, structured conference time to discuss specific plans and supports. If you receive an invitation, we strongly encourage you to attend during this slot.
Open House Conferences (5:30 PM – 7:30 PM): This is the Open House portion, where all families are welcome to drop in and meet with teachers as in previous years. This time is for general check-ins, introductions, and quick updates.
This format allows us to dedicate focused, uninterrupted time to students who have the most urgent needs, while still providing the opportunity for every family to connect with our staff.
